What makes the Horizon Stateroom different?
I was lucky enough to try a Horizon Stateroom on my World Traveller voyage from the Spanish Mediterranean to the Canary Islands. What impressed me most was how big the room felt. Indeed, the inside space is bigger because there is no veranda.
Also, in lieu of a veranda the Horizon Stateroom has floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the ocean. I thought it was fantastic, with a built-in viewing surprise, which I’ll elaborate on soon.

Is the Horizon Stateroom better?
I recommend the Horizon Stateroom on World Traveller. The extra space made such a difference, not to mention the uninterrupted ocean views.
The stateroom is divided into two different areas, separated by a small partition. On one side is a sleeping area with a very comfortable bed, while on the other is a large sitting room which overlooks the ocean. It had space for a sofa as well as two armchairs.
The real surprise was that the floor-to-ceiling glass can be lowered at the touch of a button. It made scenic cruising even better; I could look right out, just as if I were on a balcony. In fact, that’s when the in-room binoculars came in handy.
I also appreciated the in-room tea service and coffee machine. The Horizon Stateroom had a larger writing desk which was better too.
The bathroom also impressed; the chic timber and tile decor with chrome highlights had genuine wow-factor. There was a rejuvenating rainwater shower with multi-jet massage faucets. Shelf-space in the bathroom was also good, with a place everything.
Is there more storage space?
Like the other staterooms, the amount of storage space in the Horizon Stateroom is somewhat limited. In my view, that is the only downside.
There is just one small closet, with only enough room for two medium-sized cases full of clothing. If you travel with lots of luggage it might be a squeeze. That said, the nightstands had small drawers and selves for personal items which was handy.
What about device charging?
My Horizon Stateroom had ample device charging points. There were concealed US and EURO power points in the writing desk, as well as old-style USB A slots.
A single EURO power point was on either side of the bed. It is handy for CPAP users, but remember to bring an adaptor for US or UK machines. There was also a single USB slot on one side of the bed. In addition, there were two US and one EURO power points near the television; although it’s worth noting these were placed in an inconvenient position.
