Tim Rice and Seabourn announce new show

Seabourn Cruises have raised the bar for onboard entertainment with the announcement of a collaboration with multiple Tony Award winning composer Sir Tim Rice.

Tim Rice and Seabourn produce a concert-style show

Tim Rice, who is best known for his collaboration with Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber on blockbuster musicals like Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Evita, will take guests on a new musical journey through some of his best-known work. The exclusive Seabourn production will be called An Evening With Tim Rice.

The concert-style show will be narrated by Rice and a cast of singers and live musicians will draw audiences into Sir Tim’s musical world. Seabourn say the show will bringing the glamour and buzz of the West End and Broadway to every Seabourn sailing.

An Evening With Tim Rice will be enhanced with exclusive photos from Tim’s private collection and fascinating dialogue. Seabourn tell us Sir Tim’s presence will be brilliantly brought to life through state-of-the-art technology on screens around the stage on every voyage.

Some lucky cruise guests will experience the production with a live narration by Sir Tim Rice. During the show’s run, Tim will make a select number of personal appearances on every Seabourn ship.

The partnership between Tim Rice and Seabourn follows that of Stephen Schwartz with Princess Cruise earlier this year. As we reported, the Tony Award winning composer of Godspell has created an exclusive new musical for Princess.

Entertainment is now big business for all cruise lines. Full Broadway productions can be experienced on Norwegian Cruise lines with Rock of Ages and Royal Caribbean with We Will Rock You. Luxury line Silversea boast an exclusive performance by acclaimed opera singer Andrea Bocelli in October this year.

Onboard all Seabourn ships

Tim Rice says he is excited to be working with Seabourn. “This is a first for me, it’s been an amazing experience looking back over my career. The result is a show that you won’t find anywhere else. I love the idea of this production circumnavigating the globe on the high seas on Seabourn’s beautiful ships.”

An Evening With Tim Rice will debut on the new Seabourn Encore during the ships first season in Australia from January to March 2017. The collaboration with Tim Rice and Seabourn will be progressively rolled out across the Seabourn fleet, culminating onboard the appropriately named Seabourn Ovation which will launch in 2018.
