Silver Spirit Veranda Suite

The Veranda Suites were an instant hit when Silver Spirit launched in 2009. They were bigger and more luxurious than anything in their class. Now, after a multi-million dollar renovation, the Silver Spirit Veranda Suites are better than ever.

They are still among the biggest veranda suites at sea, but now they have a smart new decor. It’s understated, yet elegant with eye-catching designer touches. There is also a luxurious marble bathroom and a beautiful teak veranda.

Butler service is included with every Silver Spirit Veranda Suite. Indeed, having your own butler is an extra-special vacation treat. No request is too great, from unpacking your luggage to making restaurant reservations. Your butler can even bring you champagne each evening.

Floor plan

Every Silver Spirit Veranda Suite is like a junior suite in a luxury hotel. There are two distinct zones – a bedroom and a sitting area.

Insider’s tip: The three different types of Veranda Suite (Classic, Superior and Deluxe) are all identical in size and share the same floor plan.

There is also a walk-in closet and a spa-style bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead on to a super-spacious teak veranda.

Indeed, the Silver Spirit Veranda Suite has plenty of room to stretch out and relax. There is 29 sq. m. / 312 sq. ft. of internal space, as well as the veranda which measures 6 sq. m. / 64 sq. ft.

Ultra-luxurious living space

The Silver Spirit Veranda Suite is the epitome of understated Italian elegance. The designer look has soft tones of teal and cream as well as dove-grey accents. There are also smart gold and chrome highlights. It’s all very attractive.

The living space is divided into two zones: there is a restful sleeping area as well as a comfortable sitting area.

The sleeping area has a queen or twin bed setup with luxurious Pratesi Italian bed linens. The mattress is firm, but very comfortable. In addition there is an extensive pillow menu with feather, hypoallergenic and the one I like best, buck wheat pillows.

On either side of the bed are nightstands with deep drawers for storing personal effects. There are also chrome bedside lamps and multidirectional reading lights. In addition, there are US and European bedside power units and a USB charging port.

At the other end of the living space is the sitting area. It has a plush sofa, coffee table and designer high-back armchair on one side while on the other there is a marble-topped writing desk and mini-bar. It’s all very stylish. There is also a 40-inch flat-screen interactive HD TV.

A genuine teak veranda

Genuine teak verandas are becoming a rarity these days, but things were different when Silver Spirit was built back in 2009. In fact, all her verandas were decked out in beautiful teak.

Indeed, I think the veranda is the best part of the Silver Spirit Veranda Suite. It’s like a private retreat where you can relax and watch the glittering ocean drift by. There is ample room for the outdoor furniture which includes two reclining deck chairs as well as a teak cocktail table.

A spa-style bathroom

The spa-style bathroom is sure to impress. In most suites the beautiful marble bathroom has dark timber shelving and an inlaid timber floor.

Insiders tip: Not all Silver Spirit Veranda Suites are the same. Indeed 26 suites have an entirely different bathroom design that only includes a shower (no tub). These suites (648 to 657, from 752 to 761, from 844 to 849) were part of the new block that was added during the 2018 renovation.

The typical bathroom boasts a full-size tub and a separate walk-in shower with glass door. On the other hand, all the bathrooms have a single, over-sized basin as well as plenty of storage space on either side and underneath the vanity.

You can choose either Bvlgari, Ortigia Sicilia or hypoallergenic bathroom products. Simply let your butler know which you’d prefer. Plush Etro branded bathrobes are also provided, as well as Silversea slippers.

Storage space

The Siver Spirit Veranda Suite has lots of storage space. There is a large walk-in wardrobe with deep draws as well as plenty of hangers. In addition, there are more drawers in the living area.

Insiders tip: It’s worth noting that you can store your empty luggage under the bed. However, hard-shell luggage may need to be opened out in order to fit more easily.

Veranda Suite positions

All the Veranda Suites are positioned either forward or midship, depending on their category. It’s important to remember that the three Veranda Suite categories (Classic, Superior and Deluxe) are all identical in size, only their position on the ship varies:

  • Classic Veranda Suites: These are positioned on the lower decks toward the front of the ship.
  • Superior Veranda Suites: Like the Classic category these suites are found at the front of the ship, but they are on higher decks.
  • Deluxe Veranda Suites: These suites have the best location. They are positioned midship which means they experience less movement in rough seas.

Insiders tip: The cost difference between the Classic and Deluxe categories can be significant. However, if you are prone to seasickness it may be worth paying the extra on long ocean crossings.

    Jason,
Do you recall if the Veranda Suites without a tub were the same size giving you a roomier bathroom?
Thanks for a most helpful article.

      Dear Elaine

Yes, the Veranda Suites are all the same size regardless of whether or not they have a tub. I have to say that the bathrooms without tubs do feel roomier.

      Thanks for you kind words.

Thanks for the detailed article. We just booked our first cruise with them and I was worried about not having a bathtub, but our cabin is 504 so we should be good! Appreciate the thorough description.

Thanks for such helpful reviews of the ship. Do you know if you are allowed a small travel kettle in the suites? Or is there an easy way to get coffee in the suite before getting dressed?

      Dear Mikki

Thanks for your question. Usually you are not permitted to take items like electic kettles or irons on board. However, you can ask your butler for coffee or place an order on your breakfast card the night before. Either way it is free of charge on Silversea.
