Ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea have announced their expedition ship Silver Explorer will get a major bow to stern refit next month, and we’ve got first pictures. The Silver Explorer refit is part of Silversea’s US$170M fleet-wide refurbishment program that will see Silver Explorer enter dry dock on 20 May for the 3-week renovation.
Silversea tell us the upgrades to suites and public spaces, as well as the new colour palette of blue and beige tones, will create a revitalised atmosphere throughout the ship.
All of the suites will be completely renovated during the Silver Explorer refit, with new carpets, wall treatments, curtains and furniture. There will be new mattresses, headboards, wardrobes, bedside tables, vanity desks, sofa beds, armchairs, flat screen TVs and lighting fixtures.
Silversea have given us an exclusive sneak-peak at the renderings of the refitted suites, and they look terrific. There’s more good news for guests with the bathrooms in Adventurer, Explorer, View, Vista and Veranda Suites all being enhanced. They will get new flooring, granite vanities and rainforest showers (replacing tub-and-shower combinations). Suites with verandas will also be outfitted with new veranda furniture.
Interestingly, the eight Expedition Suites on decks 3 and 4 will be converted into 16 Vista and View Suites, with most featuring a connecting door for the convenience of families and friends traveling together. We understand demand for the large Expedition Suites was not strong enough to retain them.
In the public areas there will also be big changes during the Silver Explorer refit. A brand new boutique will be built in part of the space presently occupied by the library. While the spa and fitness centre will also grow into the space where the library once was, meaning the spa and fitness centre will almost double in size.
The reference and entertainment materials from the library will be moved to the Observation Lounge.
The Silver Explorer’s restaurants will also get a makeover and the furniture will be refashioned with new upholstery. In the theatre the bar will be completely redesigned too.
By the time she leaves her Las Palmas dry dock in mid-June the remodelled Silver Explorer will accommodate 144 guests who are sure to enjoy not only the enhancements, but the sumptuous cuisine and personalised service too.
