The Club and Seabourn Encore bar
The Club is a signature Seabourn Encore nightlife venue and popular meeting place. It has a bar area and a dance floor where a band perform pop-hits and requests each night. On Seabourn Encore, the Club has been reworked and at first glance there’s something about it that seems not quite right.
Look closely and you’ll see there are no liquor bottles behind the bar! Instead, the walls have painted bottles where the genuine articles ought to be. The barmen now mix drinks out the back, so the fun of watching your favourite libation being made has gone.
The Casino has also been opened up into the Club. This improves the atmosphere around the gaming tables, but I think the sight of slot machines cheapens the ambience of the Club itself.
The Observation Bar
The Observation Bar offers 180-degree, panoramic views across the front of Seabourn Encore. Decorated in shades of blue and cream with dark wood accents, the Observation Bar has lots of comfortable sofas and armchairs. It’s a big space, indeed some guests I spoke with thought it was too large. Though that’s entirely a matter of personal preference.
At breakfast there is an Early Risers’ Coffee and Tea service, while after dark the Observation Bar brings the Seabourn Encore nightlife alive with the sound of live entertainment.
The Grand Salon theatre
The Grand Salon is the theatre on Seabourn Encore. Most nights the resident cast and special guest arts perform two shows, one early and one late.
Seabourn have really lifted the bar when it comes to luxury cruise ship entertainment, most notably in the collaboration with Tony Award winning composer Sir Tim Rice.
Sir Tim and Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber famously wrote musicals like Cats, Phantom of the Opera and Evita. Sir Tim’s exclusive Seabourn production is called An Evening With Tim Rice. In it he narrates a concert-style show, with exclusive photos from his own private collection.
An Evening With Tim Rice is extremely popular, so I recommend arriving early to get good seats. The numerous pillars in the Grand Salon do result in eye-line problems for guests who arrive late. That said, I think the show is a must see!
There is attentive bar service in the Grand Salon during evening performances.
