Ponant, the French expedition cruise line, will refurbish their famous luxury yacht Le Ponant. In addition, three brand new Mediterranean itineraries will coincide with the vessel’s return to service in June 2022.

The spectacular 32-guest, three-mast sail boat will take on a striking new design by French studio Jean-Philippe Nuel. The cruise line tell us it will introduce a new level of timeless sophistication, with an emphasis on opening up vistas to the outside.

Each of the 16 staterooms and suites, including the magnificent 56 sq. m. / 602 sq. ft. owners suite, will be entirely made-over. The designers have opted for a stylish, minimalist approach in tones of off-white, taupe and caviar grey. It will convey the sense of a private yacht.

Also, the refurbished yacht will feature a gastronomic restaurant, spa and gym, as well as glass-bottomed kayaks, paddleboards and a natural sea pool. In addition, there will be a whirlpool and luxe sun loungers on the relaxing upper deck.

Embracing slow travel on Le Ponant

Le Ponant embraces the notion of ‘slow travel’, where the voyage is as unforgettable as the destination. Guests can listen to the rustle of wind in the sails as they explore the world like never before.

Indeed, a voyage on Le Ponant inevitably brings together those with a passion for sailing, travel and exploring new horizons. Not to mention those who crave unique new experiences.

That said, guests are free to do as much or as little as they please. Everyone sets their own pace, whether that be exploring ashore, enjoying the water sports or lazing on the sun drenched decks.

Eco-friendly

The wind propelled Le Ponant is the ultimate in eco-friendly travel. What’s more, Ponant tell us plastics like straws, laundry bags, cups and even packaging for single food portions have been banned from the ship. It is a testament to the cruise line’s efforts to minimise their environmental footprint.

From June 2022, Le Ponant will set sail again with 20 enticing sailings, including 3 new itineraries: ”Croatia, under the sails of Le Ponant”, “Island hopping from Dubrovnik to Athens” and “The Cyclades, in the wake of Le Ponant”.
