Crystal Cruises will suspend operations after its parent company filed for bankruptcy.
The luxury cruise line will pause all ocean and expedition voyages until 29 April 2022 at the earliest. Crystal Cruises will also suspend its river cruises until at least the end of May 2022.

Parent company files for bankruptcy
Crystal Cruises decision to suspend operations came after its parent company, Genting Hong Kong, filed for bankruptcy in the Supreme Court of Bermuda. The court has sought to appoint a provisional liquidator to negotiate a restructure of the company’s debts, totalling about US$2.8 billion. In their filing the company reportedly also said some assets might be sold.
A statement from Crystal Cruises said suspending operations will provide management with an opportunity to evaluate the state of the business and examine various options ‘moving forward’.
Current voyages to conclude as scheduled
Three of Crystal Cruises vessels are currently at sea and will complete their scheduled voyages. Crystal Symphony will complete its Caribbean voyage in Miami, USA as scheduled on 22 January 2022. Crystal Serenity, also in the Caribbean, will conclude its voyage in Aruba on 30 January 2022. While the expedition vessel Crystal Endeavor will sail back to Ushuaia, Argentina as planned on 4 February 2022.
Refunds for those affected by Crystal Cruises suspending operations
Passengers with paid bookings on the suspended voyages will be given refunds. The company tell us these will be precessed to the original form of payment. Also, if the cruise was paid with a Future Cruise Payment or Credit, the full value will be returned to the guest’s Crystal Society account.
