Crystal Cruises have revealed plans for an impressive fleet expansion with the acquisition of four new ships over the next six years.

The announcement was made today by Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, on board Crystal Serenity’s preview voyage in the Mediterranean.

Ms. Levis told assembled media and travel advisors that the brand intends signing a memorandum of agreement with two European shipbuilders for four new ships. This will include two classic ships and two expedition vessels.

“We have ambitious growth plans for Crystal and are proud of what we have accomplished with the relaunch of Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony in just under a year following the purchase of the brand. We are now thrilled to formally announce that we will be growing our fleet and continue to offer the most exceptional cruising experiences in the industry.”

Indeed, the plans for fleet growth are well under way. Crystal are already in discussion with advisors, lenders and export credit agents for what is likely to be a multi-billion dollar ship building deal.

Crystal Cruises retains two of the brand’s original three vessels, the 740-guest Crystal Serenity and smaller Crystal Symphony. Both have undergone significant dry dock refits ahead of the brands official relaunch at the end of July. Guests will discover larger, redesigned suites and refreshed staterooms, as well as upgraded public areas. It’s worth noting that the much-loved Umi Uma speciality restaurant will also be making a triumphant return to Crystal Cruises in July.

Crystal Cruises have not been specific on the size of the new vessels. However the rapid fleet expansion comes as no surprise to industry insiders. After all, Crystal’s new co-owner Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio has an unrivalled pedigree in establishing and growing a luxury cruise line.

Crystal Serenity will make its maiden voyage on 31 July 2023, while Crystal Symphony will set sail on 1 September 2023. For more information about the relaunch of the brand, visit the Crystal Cruises website.
