Explora Journeys newest ultra-luxury vessel has embarked on its maiden voyage from Rome, Italy.

The magnificent Explora II welcomed guest on board for the first time at the port of Civitavecchia (Rome) ahead of a 7-night western Mediterranean sailing to Tarragona, Spain.

The yacht-like Explora II

Explora II is the second vessel in the groundbreaking Explora Journeys fleet. Like her sister ship Explora I she is designed to feel more like a hotel, combined with the sumptuous finishes of a mega-yacht. The idea is to redefine the art of luxury cruising.

Indeed, Explora II has space to call your own and wide vistas to the open sea. The ship boasts six exceptional restaurants and a bevy of bars and chic lounges. On the open decks there are five swimming pools, including an exclusive adults only retreat, not to mention private outdoor cabanas.

Environmental protection

The 922-guest Explora II also sets new standards for sustainability and environmental protection. It has received “Green Plus” notation for comprehensive environmental performance by RINA, as well as “Dolphin” notation for minimising noise impact in ecologically sensitive marine areas. On board, the vessel also enhances passenger comfort with low noise and vibration levels. Furthermore, Explora II can journey to the polar regions thanks to its Polar Code C certification.

More ships coming

Even as Explora II sets sail on its inaugural voyage construction continues on an additional two vessels, the LNG-powered Explora III and IV. These will enter service in 2026 and 2027 respectively, further enhancing Explora Journeys’ environmental credentials. By 2028 the fleet will number six vessels valued at EUR3.5 billion.
