The laying of the keel represents the completion of the intensive design phase and the first stage of the vessel’s construction. Keel laying is steeped in maritime tradition, so a keel laying ceremony was held to mark the occasion.

At the official keel laying ceremony a special Queen Anne coin was commissioned and embedded into the ship’s keel by Captain Inger Thorhauge. In addition, an original coin from the ship’s namesake’s reign was also embedded into the keel.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate this exciting construction milestone for Queen Anne. Over the last three years, world-leading designers have worked with master ship builders at Fincantieri to design a ship that reinforces our position as a world-famous luxury brand across all continents. Queen Anne will be enjoyed for many generations to come, and we look forward to welcoming her to our fleet.”
