The luxury Italian cruise line Silversea have today announced a €320 million order for another ultra-luxury cruise ship. The new Silver Dawn will be the eighth vessel Silversea have built and the eleventh in the fleet. It is set to enter service in November 2021.
Silver Dawn will be a sister ship to the acclaimed Silver Muse, launched in 2017. Indeed, the luxury cruise ship will be the third in the Muse-class of vessels for Silversea and comes just months after the cruise line signed a contract for construction of Silver Moon – another sister ship to Silver Muse.
In a statement the company says the new Silver Dawn will have the same sense of intimacy, ultra-luxury qualities and spacious all-suite accommodation as Silver Muse. Details of the new ship are being kept under wraps, but it’s safe to assume Silver Dawn will have a similar capacity to Silver Muse – about 600 guests. The new ship is also likely to have the same wide range of fine dining options as well.
The chairman of Silversea and son of the company’s founder is Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio. He’s enthusiastic about the new build fulfilling a family dream. “It was my father’s dream to grow Silversea to at least a 12-ship fleet; today, we are one step closer to fulfilling his vision”.
The new Silver Dawn will be constructed at the Fincantieri ship yards in Sestri Ponente (Genoa), Italy, the the same yard that built and more recently lengthened Silver Spirit.
