A new Silversea cruise ship has been announced. The ultra-luxury small ship line has confirmed a contract worth EUR 310M to build the all-new luxury cruise ship.
The new Silversea cruise ship has been tentatively named “Silver Moon” and is set to sail in 2020. It will be the sister ship of “Silver Muse” (pictured), which debuted earlier this year.
At the launch of Silver Muse in April 2017 company chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, quipped that if his executives could fill the 596 guest flagship ‘he would build five more’.
The popularity of Silver Muse has seen Mr. Lefebvre waste no time in deciding to grow the fleet. The new build will expand Silversea’s fleet to 10 ships. The line tell us it will significantly raise the bar in the ultra-luxury segment with a wealth of enhancements to the on board experience, while satisfying the uncompromising requirements for comfort, service, and quality of the world’s most discerning travellers.
“Based on the high praise Silver Muse has earned with our guests, we are eager to build on our flagship’s success and move forward with a sister ship, which will bring us closer to fulfilling my father’s dream of a 12-ship fleet. We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding luxury cruise experience, and are delighted to partner once again with expert luxury shipbuilder Fincantieri as we continue to grow and evolve our fleet”, said Mr. Lefebvre.
Silver Moon will weigh in at 40,700 gross tons and have a capacity to accommodate 596 guests in spacious all-suite accommodation – a hallmark of the Silversea experience. The new vessel will also be clean and green. It will be a “Green Star 3 Design”, a class assigned to ships that are designed, built and equipped to prevent air and water pollution. Guest will also appreciate a quieter on board experience thanks to new noise reducing technologies.
Silver Moon, the new Silversea cruise ship, will be constructed at the famed Fincantieri ship yard in Italy.
