Two prestigious French chefs have been named as Oceania Cruises new executive culinary directors. The announcement comes as Jaques Pépin steps back from his leadership role with the cruise line.
Chef Alexis Quaretti and Chef Eric Barale will take up the reins; guiding the food philosophy and culinary vision for Oceania Cruises.
“Chefs Alex and Eric are the next generation of our culinary innovation and will continue the evolution of our foodie story, carrying forward Jacques’ incredible legacy.”
Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises.
Chefs Quaretti and Barale have outstanding culinary pedigrees. Indeed, both have been named Maîtres Cuisiniers de France (Master Chefs of France). What’s more, both chefs also have a longstanding relationship with Oceania Cruises; serving with the company for over 20 years.
Jacques Pépin steps back
They succeed legendary chef Jacques Pépin, who was the founding father of Oceania Cruises’ acclaimed culinary philosophy.
However, Pépin will not retire per se. Indeed, he will take up a new role as executive culinary adviser to Oceania Cruises.
“I look forward to championing chefs Alex and Eric further by being here for any advice or guidance needed.”
Jacques Pépin.
In addition, Pépin will dedicate more time to his charitable undertakings through The Jacques Pépin Foundation. The Foundation supports free culinary and life skills training through community based organisations.
Oceania Cruises’ food tradition continues
Oceania Cruises have told us that chefs Quaretti and Barale will maintain a laser-like focus on serving the finest cuisine at sea.
What’s more, the pair are sure to bring their own enhancements and innovations to the on board culinary experience.
