Cunard have today announce a US$40-million refit of Queen Victoria, including bedroom TVs that fold down from the ceiling in certain rooms.
Queen Victoria will enter dry dock in Palermo, Italy for one month on 05 May 2017 for the bow to stern makeover. It will see the addition of 43 brand new Britannia Club category staterooms with their own dedicated restaurant, a reconfiguring of existing Grills suites and a new Chart Room bar.
The introduction of Britannia Club staterooms during the Queen Victoria refit will reflect the product offering on Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2. While the size of the Britannia Club rooms is the same as regular Balcony rooms they have an enhanced decor and level of service.
Cunard tell us the 43 new Britannia Club staterooms (category A1 and A2) will have a prime mid-ship location on decks 7 and 8. The dedicated Britannia Club restaurant will offer guests staying in Club rooms the flexibility to dine whenever they choose. Located in the space of the former chart room, the new restaurant will be built alongside the main Britannia restaurant on deck 2.
The new Britannia Club rooms and existing Balcony rooms will all boast newly-designed carpets, soft furnishings and new flat screen TVs once the Queen Victoria refit is complete, as well as tea and coffee making facilities.
Cunard like to say their Queens Grill experience is ‘as posh as it gets’ and the plans for the revamped top suites embrace that notion. They include a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling and a service entry so staff don’t need to use the suite’s front door.
The best suites onboard Queen Victoria are the Cunard Grand Suites (category Q1) and these will be redesigned and reconfigured to maximize space – increasing it to 133 sq. m. / 1,436 sq. ft. Created to mirror a luxurious residential apartment, the suites will offer floor-to-ceiling windows and doors, a separate service entrance and hospitality preparation area, a separate snug room with TV, a beautifully-appointed lounge, a master bathroom with sea view, a second bathroom with guest access, a bedroom TV that folds down from the ceiling, a walk-in wardrobe with additional storage units, and a generous dual aspect balcony.
A total of 5 brand new Penthouse Suites (category Q4) will also be installed during the Queen Victoria refit. These will be located on deck 8 aft and feature floor-to-ceiling windows, a defined living and sleeping space and bathrooms with natural light.
Cunard have also told us a new Chart Room concept will debut on Queen Victoria as part of the refit. The new Chart Room will be located on Deck 2 off the Grand Lobby, where Café Carinthia is currently located. The Chart Room will feature illy coffee, Godiva chocolate treats and light bites by day and stellar cocktails by night.
Cunard will also introduce a gin and fizz themed menu to the Midships Lounge in the Queen Victoria refit, including a variety of wines, Proseccos, Cavas and Champagne alongside premium gins and spirits, all blended to create fresh and inspiring cocktails with a modern twist.
