Cruising is growing in popularity with foodies, and not just because of the onboard cuisine. Now Holland America Line have revealed a range of new culinary-themed shore excursions that have been developed in partnership with Food & Wine Magazine. These HAL food tours offer guest even more ways to tempt their tastebuds.
There are 23 new immersive culinary experiences available. Known as Food & Wine EXC Tours, each one explores the food, wine and culture of some of the world’s hottest gastronomic locales, including Naples, Italy.
Indeed, the new HAL food tours do more than simply take guests to a local restaurant. They give guests the opportunity to cook with the restaurant chefs and visit hidden hotspots only the locals know about.
Guests can take hands-on cooking classes, go on culinary walking tours, visit wineries, sample street food, explore local hideaways and more.
The new Food & Wine EXC Tours have been rolled out on this year’s Mediterranean and Northern Europe cruises and they can be booked now.
Noteworthy Food & Wine EXC Tours include “La Boqueria Market Cooking Experience” in Barcelona that includes a hands-on culinary workshop led by chef Txema Aroca. Also available is “Ino & the Uffizi Gallery” in Livorno, combining the finest art with the best local street food. And Copenhagen’s “Smorrebrod: The Art of Sandwich Making,” where participants learn how to bake Scandinavian bread and create authentic toppings.
Holland America Line tell us that over the next year the Food & Wine EXC Tours will be available in even more destinations including Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada/New England, the Caribbean, Mexico, South America and even more European ports.
